Road safety

Enfield Public School welcomes safe and courteous road users. The roads become very busy at peak times – just before and after school times. We ask our parents and local citizens to be especially careful to safeguard the well-being of our children.

The access points occur on Beaumauris street at the front of the school and Cobden Street at the rear.

Please observe the local speed limits – 40 Km/hr in the mornings and afternoons and 25 Km/hr at or near the crossings.

The school has a bus zone (8am to 9:30am and 2:30pm to 4pm) which must be kept clear for legal and safety reasons. The no stopping signs indicate that a motor vehicle is not permitted to stop at all – not even to pick up or set down a passenger.

Enfield Public School has a Kiss & Ride Zone. This follows the same regulation as no parking – i.e. you may stop to pick up or set down passengers, but must not remain in the zone longer than 2 minutes (or 5 minutes if your car displays a disabled sticker). As a measure of courtesy, when using a Kiss & Ride zone, please move to the front of the zone (or as far forward as you can) to permit others to use the zone. When picking up and setting down students, it is important to ensure that they exit or enter the vehicle on the passenger side in order to avoid stepping into the traffic lane.

Double parking at any time is strictly prohibited – as is the practice of parking in a fashion that restricts driver access to private homes. The practice of making U turns or three point turns near the school is illegal and dangerous.

The school carpark (access from Beaumauris Street) is for the use of school staff  only– unfortunately there is not the space for this to be used as a drop off and collection point. There is a car space within this area that is available for cars bearing a disabled sticker. Permission to use this area would be obtained by prior arrangement with the principal.

To keep our young pedestrians safe, always hold your child's hand when crossing. (This is highly recommended for all children under 8 years of age). Pedestrians must always use the crossings when stepping off the kerb.

The school has provided a bicycle rack for students who ride to school. It is essential that the wear an approved helmet when riding.
