Attendance

Regular attendance is essential for every child’s learning, wellbeing and success, helping students stay engaged, connected and on track with their education.

Attendance and absences

Students are required to attend school regularly to achieve their educational best and broaden their future career and life opportunities.

In NSW, all children aged 6 and over must attend school or be registered for home schooling through the NSW Education Standards Authority (NESA). Students must complete Year 10 (or its equivalent) and continue in school, training, or employment until they turn 17 years old.
